What seemed like the most unlikely time to begin a new business, for Dawn and I, became a necessary force, setting things into motion for us to really begin thinking about where exactly we wanted to be and what we should be doing with our lives and our talents.
Dawn and I worked together for many years at the same art consulting firm and we have remained friends ever since. A year or so ago, we both shifted our focus to our young families and our own art practices. 6 months into this global pandemic, feeling a call for change, we began to talk about ways to use our combined 20+ years of experience and extensive knowledge in the industry. We realize that the world has changed and how we view and experience artwork and connect with each other has also changed. We wanted to create something that started with these ideas and values, really focusing on the engagement and connection that art can create. This was the beginning of our Opus collaboration!
Dawn and I both share the same vision for Opus, which makes it a perfect collaboration. We are both artists, who love filling our days with art and although we didn't foresee starting our own art consulting company, it now feels like we're exactly where we belong, doing what we love and truly making a positive impact in our collaborations, communities and the world. We strive to curate art with a story in mind - our clients story - a story that will engage the viewer and create impactful dialogue and lasting memories. A story that is evocative as much as it is beautiful. A story that will live on in its collective experiences and memories.
I have to say, starting this company during the 2020 pandemic has proven to be one of the wisest decisions I've made. Not only has it brought both Dawn and I feelings of purpose and much happiness in this difficult time, it has also provided us with a creative space to really come into ourselves. We have found our light with Opus and we aspire to share this light through our work. Because really, I think we can all use more light in our lives!
Welcome to our Opus studio, where we share space to create and build Opus together.
